Countdown to Dominica Jazz’n Creole Festival begins, lineup unveiled

Roseau, Dominica: The much-anticipated Jazz’n Creole Festival of Dominica is all set to return to Fort Shirley Cabrits National Park on May 5, 2024, under the theme- “Creole Fusion.” The event showcases the infusion of jazz art form into the Creole culture of the country, aiming to attract visitors and promote local businesses.

Roseau, Dominica: The much-anticipated Jazz’n Creole Festival of Dominica is all set to return to Fort Shirley Cabrits National Park on May 5, 2024, under the theme- “Creole Fusion.” The event showcases the infusion of jazz art form into the Creole culture of the country, aiming to attract visitors and promote local businesses.

From local talent to international sensations, the lineup of the festival will include singers and songwriters hailing from Dominica- Li Li Octave and Michele Henderson, Jamaica-American singer Alaine, Award-wining violinist May, and Dominica’s own band Swingin’ Stars.

The festival will take place in the afternoon and evening time from 2 pm to 9 pm and attract more families and visitors to partake in the festivities. The tickets for entry at the park have been unveiled and will be available at locations such as Bullseye Pharmacy in Goodwill, Portsmouth and Grandbay, Water’s Edge, Portsmouth Depex, and the Dominica Festivals Committee Office.

The price of the regular tickets will be EC$175, while the children’s tickets between the ages of 12 to 17 years will be available at EC$75. The patrons are offered to take the tickets at the Gate at the price of EC$200.

In addition to that, the event also includes fringe events that take place before and after the main day, offering an extended celebration of Jazz and Creole culture. The main highlights of the fringe will be Jazz in the City, Jazz’n Karaoke, Jazz’n Cocktail, and Jazz on the Shoreline, aiming to promote cultural enrichment and community engagement through music.

Other fringe events such as Jazz in Parade, Jazz after Party, Jazz on the Roof Top and Jazz Seafood Lime will offer a lively environment to the patrons with the soulful sounds of jazz music. Attendees will be given a chance to taste delicious drinks and culinary delights through Breakfast Village and Purple Turtle Family Fun Day.

The sports lover will also be given a place in the festival will the event named Basketball Classic where players will play basketball and experience the nature isle of the Caribbean.

The attendees will also enjoy live jazz performances through the event Jazz’n Dine, featuring Li Li Octave.

The festival is considered as the great celebration of the culture and music tradition of the Caribbean due to which several regional airlines such as Caribbean Airlines, interCaribbean Airways, and WINAIR provide additional service to Dominica during the Jazz season.

Furthermore, these airlines have also announced contests for jazz lovers to win two VIP tickets and a two-day stay at the luxury hotels of Dominica. The patrons only have to follow the Dominica Festival page and update their social media with the recent updates of the festivals of the country.

Launched in 2010, Dominica’s Jazz’n Creole Festival has earned immense popularity over the years, serving as the platform to attract tourists and promote local offerings. With its vibrant atmosphere and diverse lineup, the festival is known for its rich heritage and Creole traditions.

Notably, the festival recorded a 59% increase in the arrivals of tourists in Dominica with the staging of the 12th Jazz’s n Creole Festival last year. Tourism Minister of Dominica- Denise Charles also revealed that the festival also witnessed a 55% increase in revenue from 2022 which has attracted visitors from the region, the  French West Indies, the United States, and Dominican nationals abroad.
