Dominica welcomed the luxurious cruise MS Fram on Monday, April 22, 2024. The arrival of this vessel marked the late-season inaugural call of cruise season 2023-24.

The cruise docked at the Cabrits Cruise Ship Berth and brought over 200 passengers to Dominica’s shores who disembarked to explore the Nature Isle of the Caribbean.

Mayor of Portsmouth Kerry Breedy-Prince along with other stakeholders from the tourism industry hosted a brief ceremony aboard the MV Fram.

During the ceremony, the officials presented a basket filled with gifts to the cruise’s captain as a token of love and welcomed the entire crew and guests to Dominica.

The MV Fram is a passenger cruise which is operated by the Norway-based Hurtigruten Group. It boasts a capacity of 250 passengers.

The vessel marked the 15th inaugural call of the ongoing cruise season in Dominica, which is nearing its end. As of now, the country has welcomed a total of 208 cruise ships.

These cruises have brought 298,378 visitors to the Commonwealth of Dominica, signalling the success of cruise tourism season 2023-2024. Of these passengers, over 124,000 participated in organised tours and gave huge business to the local vendors, tour guides, taxi drivers and restaurants.

With each passing year, Dominica is witnessing a more successful cruise season and the committed team of tourism service providers stands ready to ensure that every moment of the visitors spent on the island is cherished and memorable. 

Notably, in the last cruise season, Dominica experienced a 24 percent surge in cruise visits, which caused a total number of 186,750 passengers to disembark to explore the unspoiled gem of Dominica.
